Children’s Birthday Parties seem to have become a competitive field for parents. We are here to help you organise the right birthday party for you and your child, not for keeping up with the Jones’!  There is no rule of thumb to follow, as different age groups suit differing activities and time durations.
We have tried to help you decide the basics by setting out some age-defined guidelines below;

Your child is aged 0 – 3 years old……
Your baby’s first birthday is a day to cherish. Not particularly for Baby as they won’t understand what all the fuss is about, but this birthday party is a milestone in your lives together. Why not celebrate with a tea party for close friends and family, you will appreciate a quiet birthday celebration before the next few years chaos kicks in!

Aged 2 and 3, kids have very small attention spans. More short activities are better than one long event. Some children may be

more developed than others, but you must always remember to cater for all of your small birthday party guests. With this age group, it is always a good idea to invite the parents as well as the child, and try to keep numbers low. This is the age of petty squabbles, so look ahead to try to avoid any potential difficulties; open birthday presents at home after the party or distract your small guests with their own party bags and ensure that children are well fed and watered, but remember to go gently with the E numbers!

Space is a key element for this age group. Few children will have the ability to sit still for very long, so ensure that there is a large space for them to play in, and you may wish to consider removing all breakable items. A safe garden is the perfect birthday party location, distribute jars of bubble mixture and wands and watch them wear themselves out! If you are intending to indulge in a possibly messy activity such as painting or playing in the garden, do warn your fellow parents so that they can prepare a suitable change of clothes!
